Effective at 7:00pm on February 16, 2015 the Town of Aberdeen Mayor Robert A. Farrell declared a State of Emergency for the Town of Aberdeen. This declaration has been made due to the winter storm that is impacting the area which has the potential for creating icy/impassible roads, downed trees, downed power lines and power outages. With this declaration in place citizens and visitors should only travel the road ways in the event of emergencies or necessity as the roads are becoming snow covered at this time and dangerous to navigate. Unnecessarily traveling roads puts yourself as well as others at risk. In addition, Town of Aberdeen crews will not be clearing streets until it is safe to do so meaning most town maintained streets may not be cleared until the event loses intensity. Also for those that may lose power or just need some where to stay through this event the local emergency shelter is at the New Century Middle School located at 1577 Union Church Rd. Cameron, NC 28326. In the event you should need non-emergency assistance from the Aberdeen Fire/Rescue Department we have staffed our Emergency Operations Center and our direct line is 910-944-7888 and if you have an emergency please dial 911.
