On Monday, November 17th at the Town Board Meeting, the 2014 Citizen's Academy Program participants graduated from the program. 13 Aberdeen citizens participated in the program this year. Participants pictured from left to right are: Kelvin Watson, Lucille Morris, Ernestine Chapman, Wilma Laney, James Laney, Craig Giancaterino, Kenneth Byrd, Ron Utley, James McLean, Richard Lee, and Shekeeta McCrimmon-Hill. Graduates not pictured: Janet Peele and Paul Thiessen. Congratulations to these 13 graduates for their accomplishment!

The Citizen's Academy Program is a 7-week program that meets once a week on Tuesday evenings and participants learn about the inner-workings of each department during their sessions. The goals of the program are to provide individuals with a better understanding of the Town's municipal services, the council-manager form of government, and the challenges local governments face. The program helps teach and cultivate new community leaders and helps move those new leaders into important positions within the community.

The next Citizen's Academy Program will take place in September 2015. Applications are accepted throughout the year - if you are interesting in participating, please contact Regina Rosy at 910-944-4515 for more information.
