Town of Aberdeen Historic Preservation Commission Invites You To a Public Meeting For the Historic District Guidelines Update on Tuesday, April 15th, 2014 at 5:30 pm at the Town Hall located at 115 North Poplar Street, Aberdeen, NC.

The Town of Aberdeen is updating the Historic District Design Guidelines used to evaluate building projects for local landmarks and properties within the boundaries of the designated historic district. The new guidelines are intended to be current with standard and progressive preservation practices and to help preserve the unique character of the district. Updated guidelines will be user friendly and allow property owners and design professionals to more easily navigate through the design review and permitting process.

The Guidelines update project is expected to wrap up early this summer with adoption of the final document by the Board of Commissioners in July. The Town is soliciting input from residents, businesses, architects, developers and the community at large. The initial draft of the document can be found here and meetings will be posted there as they are scheduled.

This meeting is your best opportunity to have input on the initial draft of the Guidelines. All interested parties are invited to attend and participate.
