Chief of Police Selection

Developmental Associates will be assisting the Town of Aberdeen in the selection process for the position of Chief of Police. The primary role of Developmental Associates will be to design a process to assess the qualifications of the finalists for the position. The process will be used to not only assist in selecting the most qualified person for the position but also to aid in selecting someone who is a good fit for Aberdeen.

The Town of Aberdeen would like to invite members of the community and elected officials to provide input into the qualifications and characteristics you would like to see in your new Chief of Police. A meeting will be held to gain insight into the position and community. Developmental Associates will meet and ask you to respond to the following questions:

1. What are the most important job duties of the Chief of Police for the Town of Aberdeen?

2. What are the most important traits/characteristics of a successful Chief of Police in Aberdeen?

3. What are the most important job knowledge areas for the Aberdeen Chief of Police to possess?

4. What challenges face the Town of Aberdeen that will impact the Aberdeen Police Department and the next Chief of Police?

The Community Meeting has been scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the Robert N. Page Municipal Building located at 115 N. Poplar Street, Aberdeen. We value your input and encourage you to attend.
