The Town of Aberdeen’s Parks and Recreation Department is currently accepting applications for Day Camp Counselors. Counselors will provide supervision and activities for children ages 5-12.  Counselors are needed for our Spring Break Camp which will be held from April 14 - 17 from 7:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  Counselors will also be needed for our Summer Camps which will be held June 23 – August 15, weekdays from 7:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides a memorable and positive camp experience by implementing and leading organized activities: passive and active games, crafts, field trips, swimming, and science activities.
• Should possess strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, in addition to working well with children.
• Leads a group of campers with a fun, positive, and outgoing attitude while acting as a role model.
• Willingness to work as a team and jump in wherever needed.
• Maintains the cleanliness of all spaces utilized by the camp.
• Maintains a safe environment for all campers.
• Counselors that meet the driving age requirement will be required to drive the campers in 15 passenger vans for field trips.
• Position will include indoor and outdoor work.

  Minimum requirements include:

• Ability to frequently stand; walk; use hands, objects, or tools
• Ability to tolerate loud noises
• Ability to work outdoors for long periods of time
• Must pass a Pre-employment Drug Screen
• Must pass a Background Investigation
• Must have a clean driving history
• Must possess a valid NC Driver’s License
• Must have reliable transportation
• Minimum age requirement of 16 years old; age requirement of 21 years old for drivers
• Attend all required trainings before the start of camp

Starting salary: $12.00 - $15.00/hour based on experience.  These positions are seasonal, part-time, with no benefits.  Applications will be accepted until positions are filled.
