The Town of Aberdeen Police Department is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a full-time Police Officer position. Interested applicants should possess the following requirements:
- High school graduate from an accredited high school or have a GED
- At least 20 years of age
- Honorable discharge, if veteran
- Must possess a valid NC Driver’s License
- Must be of good moral character, have no felony convictions and committed no incidents of domestic violence
- Successful completion of the NC Basic Law Enforcement Training Program
- Possess a General Law Enforcement Certificate
- Pass a Pre-employment Physical Fitness Test
- Pass a Pre-employment Physical
- Pass a Psychological Exam
- Pass a Pre-employment Drug Screen
- Pass a Pre-employment Credit Check
The successful applicant will be assigned to work rotating shifts that will involve day and night work. Starting salary: $44,681 and within (3) years of employment the Career Development Program can provide an increased salary up to $55,000. Benefits include $2,000 sign-on bonus, longevity pay, member of Local Governmental Employees Retirement System, 5% 401-k contribution, health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, retiree medical insurance paid up to 50% upon retirement, take home vehicle, and paid vacation and sick leave. Additional salary consideration will be given to applicants with experience in law enforcement. All applicants must submit a Town of Aberdeen Employment Application.
