The Aberdeen Police Department does not take reports over the phone. We feel that it is important that an officer respond to your home or business and talk with you directly while taking a report.
In an emergency, dial 911. This number applies for any emergency (police, fire, or EMS). For all non-emergency calls requiring police assistance from an Aberdeen police officer, dial 911. This is the dispatch center for all calls.

All incident reports, which were written by an Aberdeen police officer, can be obtained in person at the Aberdeen Police Records Division located at 804 N. Sandhills Blvd., Aberdeen. Reports can be obtained Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. If you request a copy to be mailed to you, then forward that request in writing with a self-addressed stamped envelope to the Police Records Division.

To report a crime, accident or suspicious circumstance requiring a police
officer to respond, dial the 911 Emergency
Communication Center. Please be prepared to
give as much information as possible
including location/address, persons or
vehicles involved, descriptions and the
circumstances of the situation. An
Emergency Telecommunicator is available 24
hours per day to answer the call and
dispatch the proper officer, unit or agency
to assist. Remember to give your name,
address, and phone number so the officer can
contact you for additional information or to
update you on the status. Do not
hesitate to call the Police Department for
any situation you believe is suspicious or
unusual that should be investigated by the
police.
The Aberdeen Police Department must be notified of any application to the North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission for a business or event that is located or will take place in Aberdeen. Depending on the type of application, we must either sign the form or provide information that will be used by the Commission during their consideration of your application. Complete the ABC Permit Application- Information and Release form, attach all pertinent documents, and bring it to the Police Department. We will complete the law enforcement portion of your application and return it to you and then you may file it with the ABC Commission. To obtain the appropriate application visit the

Property owners may contact the Aberdeen Police Department to request an
unattended residential security property check for their property. Officers will during regular patrols, as time permits, check the property for any signs of crimes, damage to the property, or other issues that should be reported to the property owner. The property owner can fill out a Residence/Business Check Request Form and submit it by email to

This service is designed primarily for property that is normally inhabited, but will be unattended for a specific period of time. Vacant properties will be maintained on the property check list for a maximum of thirty (30) days.
Police officers are available to assist in a number of ways. If your event is on public property or outdoors, contact the Aberdeen Planning Department to determine if you need to apply for an Special Event Permit. The need for police services will be determined based upon your application. If your event does not fall into this category, contact the Aberdeen Police Department by email at
[email protected] or by telephone at (910) 944-9721. On-duty officers may be assigned to events that are of a short term nature. For a longer term event, officers can be made available under certain circumstances. The Off-Duty Employment Application contains information and restrictions on this service. Dog barking or animal running at large.
The Town of Aberdeen Code of Ordinances prohibits “Dogs barking in such a way as to be a public nuisance” and "allowing an animal to run at large. “Running at large” means “off the premises of the owner, and not under the control of the owner or a member of his or her immediate family” (SOURCE: Town of Aberdeen Code of Ordinances Chapter 91). If the issue is dog barking or animal running at large, please dial 911 to have an Aberdeen Police Officer respond.
All other animal issues.
The Moore County Health Department, through Moore County Animal Control, is responsible for animal control in Moore County, including Aberdeen. Moore County Animal Control is primarily responsible for enforcing all laws of the state and all ordinances of the county pertaining to animals and cooperating with local law enforcement in fulfilling this duty; enforcing all laws pertaining to rabies control; investigation of all animal bites and quarantine of any domestic animal suspected of having rabies; canvasses for the propose of ascertaining compliance with rabies statutes; investigation of cruelty cases; investigation of nuisance situations; investigation of vicious or dangerous dogs; impoundment of stray domestic animals. Animal Control is not responsible for, or licensed to deal with any situation concerning wildlife, unless a rabies issue is suspected.
Animal Control operates during normal business hours of 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. An On Call Officer is available for emergency situation thru 911 after hours and on the weekends and holidays. (SOURCE: Moore County Animal Control website). If you see a stray dog or cat, contact Moore County Animal Control at (910) 947-2858. Animal Control can place traps to capture stray animals in a humane way but needs the permission of the property owner to place the traps.
The Aberdeen Police Department will assist citizens who need a documented record of their fingerprints for a professional license, foster care/child care application, employment application, rental/lease application or other required purposes. Persons interested in this service should be aware of the following:
- The fee for fingerprinting is $5.00.The fee must be paid in advance and you will be issued a receipt from the Police Department.
- Fingerprints are taken on Tuesdays between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. (except holidays) at the Aberdeen Police Department, 804 N. Sandhills Blvd., Aberdeen.
- An appointment is not necessary. You must bring a government issued, photo identification.
- You must supply the specific type of card(s) that you need fingerprints taken for. The Police Department does not supply fingerprint cards.
1) You must complete the top part of the fingerprint card prior to your fingerprints being taken.
2) DO NOT SIGN THE CARD. It must be signed in the presence of the officer taking the fingerprints.
What is a Welfare Check?
Friends, family and neighbors are important social contacts. They may regularly check in with loved ones to see how they're doing. But you may be going out of town and can't check on the loved one. The Police Department can do a Welfare Check as often as you would like. Or the Police Department can do Welfare Checks on elderly citizens that live by alone. To have a Welfare Check done, submit a
Welfare Check form to the Police Department.
