The Town of Aberdeen, a growing community located adjacent to Pinehurst and Southern Pines, is seeking an experienced individual to join our team as the Town’s newly created position of IT Support Specialist. An exciting opportunity exists for this position since it is a newly created position and the final candidate will have the opportunity to provide critical input on system setup, maintenance, etc. This position will be responsible for managing the Town’s information technology systems including installing and maintaining hardware and software applications, troubleshooting and resolving equipment failures, establishing operating systems and platforms, updating computer systems, and implementing automated systems for existing manual systems. Work involves planning, organizing, and daily support and operation for the systems. Work requires a high level of technical knowledge of computer hardware and software applications, understanding of network infrastructure and device configuration and operating systems to include Microsoft Windows, Apple IOS, Microsoft Server Ver. 2008-2016 and productivity suites such as Microsoft Office 365. This position will recommend hardware and software systems for purchase, perform and/or coordinate installations, perform repairs, and provide end user and software support. Regular work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and position will also require some evening, holiday and weekend work as needed. Requirements: Graduation from a two-year college with a major in information technology, computer science, or related field and considerable experience as a computer systems analyst, programmer, or systems administrator, including considerable network experience, preferably in local government; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A+ Certification preferred. Ability to provide excellent customer service to end users is required.
The successful applicant must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen, background investigation, credit check, and fingerprinting at the Police Department. Hiring range: $43,000 - $47,000, with excellent benefits package including 5% 401-k contribution, Local Government Employees Retirement System membership, paid medical, dental and life insurance, 12 paid holidays + paid birthday day off, vacation and sick leave, and annual longevity payment.  Interested candidates must submit a letter of interest, application, and resume.
