MINUTES BUDGET WORK SESSION MAY 26, 2005 5:30 P.M.
The Aberdeen Board of Commissioners met Thursday, May 26, 2005 at 5:30 p.m. for a Budget Work Session. Members present were Mayor Elizabeth B. Mofield and Commissioners Pat Ann McMurray, Robbie Farrell, Arthur Parker, Donna Shannon and Terry Marquez. Others in attendance were Town Manager Bill Zell and Finance Officer Beth Wentland. Mayor Mofield called the Budget Work Session to order.
Commissioner Parker discussed the Rescue Squad’s request for $15,000.00. Discussion of this item will be continued.
Commissioner Marquez asked about stocking fish in the lake and about installing an aerator in the lake. She also stated she did not want the parking lot at Colonial Heights Park paved.
The Board wanted training for all the Town boards. There was also some discussion pertaining to looking at Town souvenirs to present as gifts to visiting dignitaries.
Manager Zell informed the Board he had included in the proposed budget the 2% across-the-board increase and the new recommended Longevity change. He stated the recommended increase in garbage fees, which would be direct revenue, water and sewer tap fees and the Planning and Zoning fees have not been included in the proposed budget.
There was some concern from Commissioner Farrell pertaining to the cost of the installation of a new phone system. But the consensus of the Board favored the new system as the Town’s current system is so antiquated.
The next Budget Work Session will be Thursday, June 9th at 5:30 p.m. After further review of the proposed budget, a motion was made by Commissioner Parker, seconded by Commissioner McMurray, to adjourn the Budget Work Session. Motion unanimously carried.
