MINUTES
SPECIAL CALLED MEETING
JULY 15, 2005
8:30 A.M.
The Aberdeen Board of Commissioners met Friday, July 15, 2005 at 8:30 a.m. for a Special Called Meeting. The purpose of the Special Called Meeting was to select an architectural firm for the Master Plan Design and proposed building for Aberdeen Lake Park and also for the Town Board and the Planning Board to go on a field trip to visit several development sites in the Chapel Hill area as designed and constructed by Land Design, developers for the proposed Legacy Golf Links. Mr. Bob Koontz and Jeremy Rust, representatives for Land Design, were in attendance and would be handling the field trip for the Town Board and Planning Board.
Members present were Mayor Elizabeth B. Mofield and Commissioners Robbie Farrell, Pat Ann McMurray, Donna Shannon and Terry Marquez. Commissioner Arthur Parker was unable to attend. Others in attendance were Parks & Recreation Director Leigh Baggs, Planning Director Giles Hopkins and Deputy Planner, Heather Brown.
Planning Board members present and to also go on the field trip were Jim Thomas, Elease Goodwin, Roger Bone, Bill Prevatte and Maurice Holland.
Mayor Mofield called the meeting to order. She stated the Board needed to select an architectural firm for work on the Master Plan Design and future recreation building for the parks facility.
Manager Zell stated the Board had requested additional information pertaining to the fee structure for the components of this project. Leigh Baggs distributed to the Board this material for their review.
After further discussion, a motion was made by Commissioner McMurray, seconded by Commissioner Shannon, to select the services of Oakley Associates and Susan Hatchell to create the Master Plan Design and proposed recreation building for the Aberdeen Lake Park. Motion unanimously carried.
A motion was then made by Commissioner Farrell, seconded by Commissioner Marquez, to continue the meeting by going on a field trip to Chapel Hill to see development sites designed and developed by Land Design, developers of the proposed Legacy Golf Links. Motion unanimously carried.
The Board returned to Aberdeen at 2:30 p.m. A motion was then made by Commissioner Farrell, seconded by Commissioner McMurray, to adjourn the meeting. Motion unanimously carried.
