The
Aberdeen Fire and Rescue Department received
a review and inspection conducted by
the NC Department of Insurance Office of the
State Fire Marshal (OSFM) the week of September
14, 2009. The last inspection was
conducted in 1991.
December 14, 2009 we received the results of
that survey at a special presentation by OSFM at the Aberdeen Town Board Meeting.
Currently, the
protection class for Aberdeen is a 6 in the
Municipal District and a 6/9E in the Rural
District.
We are extremely excited that we have
improved our rating to a 4 in the Municipal
District and a 5/9E in the Rural District.
The rating is used by
insurance companies to calculate your
premiums. The lower the rating, the
lower the premium. The new
rates will be published and will take effect
April 1, 2010. This is a significant change
and should greatly reduce the insurance cost
to the citizens of our district.
Congratulations to the Aberdeen Fire
Department on lowering our ISO rating.
