Recognized by Moore County Chamber
Congratulations
to Joe Salmon and Kim Michaels-Fekette who were
recognized by the Moore County Chamber of Commerce at
their 41st Annual Banquet on January 31st. Joe
Salmon teaches 5th Grade Math and Science at Aberdeen
Elementary School. Joe was presented the Golden Apple
Award as the Teacher of the Year Award. Joe’s excellence
in teaching and dedication to the students certainly met
all the criteria for this award. Joe continues to
demonstrate community support of Aberdeen through his
actions. Joe recently assisted students with the
installation of donated birdhouses in Aberdeen Lake
Park. Joe is a tutor with the 21st Century After School
program. The past two years, Joe has coached a
Fall Little League Baseball team for Aberdeen Parks and
Recreation Department. Joe lives in Aberdeen with
his wife and children. Joe was presented a plaque with
inscription and a golden apple.
Bliss, A Salon Experience, owned by Kim
Michaels-Fekette, winner of the Entrepreneur Business of
the Year, is an upscale hair salon, located in Aberdeen.
During the presentation, a representative from the
Chamber stated “Bliss’s application demonstrated a work
environment of teamwork through mentoring, empowerment
and accountability.” According to the selection
committee, Bliss has met and dealt with adversity by
implementing a stringent training program and developed
a grow your own philosophy. In addition they have
utilized technology to its fullest by implementing a web
site that allows clients to schedule appointments and a
computerized imaging system that allows clients to “try
on” new looks. Bliss, A Salon Experience, through
its concise business plan, defined set of goals and
teamwork atmosphere have raised the bar in the salon
industry within Moore County.” Kim Michaels-Fekette
was presented a mahogany and crystal trophy for her
accomplishments.
